Masa Israel Journey

Studies show that for young Jews to develop a meaningful connection to Israel, they need to experience it in a personal way. Masa Israel Journey offers Jewish young adults (aged 18-30) the opportunity to do just that through a plethora of enriching and immersive Israel-based volunteering, internship, and teaching programs.

In 2019, 9,200 Masa participants in 270 programs contributed $575M to Israel’s economy.

Because so many global Jews today feel increasingly unconnected to Israel – and many Israelis feel the same way about their overseas Jewish brothers and sisters – these programs are especially important. Masa participants undergo a life-changing experience grounded in personal and professional growth. From two months to ten months, each Masa initiative produces a new generation of leadership-minded Jews with a stronger bond to Israel and a deeper understanding of life in our shared homeland.

Ariana, a Masa participant from San Antonio, Texas, chose to participate in Masa’s Israel Teaching Fellows program (MITF), a 10-month fellowship for college graduates who want to make a difference and teach English while becoming a part of Israel society. “Getting the opportunity to fully immerse yourself into Israeli society, learn and experience a different culture, while simultaneously contributing to the greater society, was the most rewarding experience,” Ariana said. Watch Tai, another participant in MITF, reflect on teaching English in Israel:
